List of Accepted Abstracts

List to be revealed on June 17th, 2016 for the preliminary program of the conference. The submitted abstracts and synopses will go through a peer review process. Abstracts and synopses are not included in the conference proceedings. For final acceptance on the conference program, authors will need to submit full papers/videos as final contributions.

Best Student Paper Award

All student first authors are eligible for the Best Student Paper Award. First authors who graduated within the last 12 months and are no longer students are also eligible if the work being reported was conducted entirely while the first author was a student.

Based on the comments given by the reviewers on the quality of the abstract, the final paper, and the presentation of the poster at the conference by the students, a Best Student Paper Award will be selected and presented during the conference.

Student Registration Fee Reimbursement

Students who are first authors on an accepted student technical paper may apply to have their student conference registration fee reimbursed under certain conditions, please visit http://www.cigre.ca/2016/en/student for the details. All students planning to attend the 2016 CIGRÉ Canada Conference must prepay the student registration fee.

Instructions for preparation of a poster

In order to be considered for the student paper award, students must prepare a poster using the following template: CIGRE-Canada-2016-Poster-Template.ppt

Other select authors may be invited to participate in the poster session.

Paper Submission

Following the review of abstracts and the notification of acceptance by email, authors must submit their papers no later than August 26th, 2016.

Manuscripts must be in English for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Six to eight pages in the CIGRÉ standard format are allowed for each paper, including figures and references. The PDF file must not exceed 2MB. Your paper will be reviewed. We strongly recommend that you follow the step-by-step instructions in the sections:

Once all steps are completed, go to the Paper Submission Form to submit your contribution.

Instructions to prepare your PDF Paper

  • Step 1: Paper Format
    • Write your paper using the CIGRÉ template. Do not change the formatting in any way.
  • Step 2: PDF Creation
    • Create a PDF version of your paper. The PDF file must not exceed 2MB.

Instructions for the CIGRÉ Copyright Form

In order to publish your paper in the proceedings, we must receive your copyright form in the final submission process. A signed copy of the CIGRÉ Copyright form is required for each contribution.

  1. Download the CIGRÉ Copyright Form in Word format.
  2. On the second page of the copyright form:
    • Replace the [●] of “Done in 2 copies, in [●], on [●],” respectively by your city and the date of signature. Example: “Done in 2 copies, in Toronto, on April 25 2015.
    • Replace “Signatory” by your name.
  3. Print the form.
  4. At the bottom of the second page of the copyright form, add your hand signature preceded by your handwritten indication “All provisions read and accepted”.
  5. Scan your hand signed form and create a 2-page PDF file of your signed Copyright Form. You will need to submit this PDF file in the final submission process. Please remember without the copyright form we cannot include your paper in the proceedings.

Please have the PDF file of your scanned signed and dated CIGRÉ Copyright form ready to upload when accessing the submission form.

For the 2016 conference, the requirement on “PPT file for Conference Digest” has been waived.

CIGRE oral presentation PPT Preparation

For oral presentation at the 2016 conference, a CIGRE standard template for PPT file (i.e. Power Point) is as shown in the hyperlink. The presenters are requested to follow the template and also include a brief CV as per slide 2 to allow the audience to get information about the presenter and maintain consistency.
